BARROW COUNTY, Ga. – On Sunday evening, Apalachee High School hosted a private vigil for students, staff, and community members to come together and mourn in privacy.

The event was closed to the media, and FOX 5 Atlanta honored this request, observing from outside as hundreds, possibly thousands, gathered to pay their respects.

Before entering the vigil, high school senior D’Anthony Kanzig expressed his feelings about the gathering:

“Man, it’s beautiful, genuinely,” he shared. “Tragedies bring us together, which is great. I’ve noticed everybody is more, what’s the word, driven to be closer together.”

This tight-knit community has shown immense support for the grieving families, coming together during what may be the most challenging time of their lives. The growing collection of gifts and heartfelt tributes at the school’s flagpole reflects how deeply the four victims are missed and how their memories will continue to be honored and cherished.
