“Deadpool & Wolverine” has officially joined the billion-dollar club at the global box office. The Marvel sequel, starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, has earned $494.3 million in North America and $535.1 million internationally, totaling $1.029 billion worldwide. This makes it the second 2024 release, following Disney’s “Inside Out 2” at $1.558 billion, to cross the billion-dollar mark.

Notably, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is set to surpass 2019’s “Joker” ($1.07 billion) as the highest-grossing R-rated film in history. The film is now the 31st Disney release and 11th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to hit $1 billion, a much-needed victory for the MCU after recent underperformances like “Eternals” and “The Marvels.”

Directed by Shawn Levy, “Deadpool & Wolverine” marks the first MCU film to feature characters previously licensed to 20th Century Fox. The movie combines iconic Fox-era heroes, including Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Chris Evans as the Human Torch from “Fantastic Four,” and Wesley Snipes as Blade, in a timeline-saving adventure alongside Deadpool and Wolverine.
