Tom Holland is eager to reprise his role as Peter Parker but insists he won't "make another movie just for the sake of it."

Tom Holland is fully committed to returning as Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but he’s focused on making sure it’s done right. “We have a creative idea, a pitch, and an excellent draft,” Holland shared on The Rich Roll Podcast (via Variety). “It still needs work, but the writers are doing a fantastic job. I read it three weeks ago, and it reignited my passion for the project. Zendaya and I even read through it together, and we were so excited that we were jumping around the room. This is a movie that truly respects the fans.”
Holland acknowledged that one of the big challenges is ensuring the new solo Spider-Man film fits seamlessly into the broader Marvel timeline, benefiting the overall narrative. Despite the hurdles, he’s excited about being more involved in the creative process at Marvel, which is an opportunity he takes seriously. Channeling Spider-Man’s motto, “with great power comes great responsibility,” Holland reflected on his journey. Initially, he was tied to a six-movie contract with Marvel and Sony, at their full disposal, and loved every moment of it. Now, though, he’s in a position where he has more control. “I’m now at a point where I can say no. With that power comes the challenge of figuring out what’s right for me and the character.”
He added, “There have been moments where I’ve had to put my foot down, something I wasn’t able to do in the past.” Navigating this new position has been tricky for him, but Holland is now more focused on choosing what’s best for himself and for Peter Parker, rather than what benefits the studios. “I don’t want to make another movie just for the sake of it.”
Even with this cautious approach, Holland is eager to keep making Marvel movies—”many more” in fact. He also revealed that he’s had talks with MCU veteran Robert Downey Jr., who gave him advice about his own return to Marvel as Doctor Doom. “It’s super exciting,” Holland said, admitting it was hard to keep such a big secret, especially given his reputation for accidentally spilling details. “But I’ve strategically done no press,” he joked.
